The A's are finally setting their sights on a new ballpark (that's privately financed btw. Great job A's!) and people are still not happy. Just be happy the A's are committed to staying in Oakland and we have a new ballpark to look forward to. Go A's!

I will believe it when I see it. Your developer said “tailgating” was buying food outside the park and sitting in the grass. Didn’t fill me with confidence.

Not only are we going to have tailgating, Tom Harkin, we're going to have cornhole and food trucks and outdoor lucha libre and BBQ grills and giant Jenga, and we're going to have Big Heads and Stomper and Dot Races… And we're going to have Hobbit Holes and Hipster Roof parks and Craft Beer and AT-ATs, and then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! BYAHHHHH!!!

Lmbo,All of you got excited for the new stadium. Now your realizing the real A's fan won't be including in the new/final design.Be careful what you ask for.I keep saying there is only one true home for the A's,The Coliseum,Restore & Revive. The Coliseum is #RootedInOakland #LoyalToTheSoil. The Cubs,Redsox, and Dodgers respectfully restored & revived their stadiums. So can the A's with the Coliseum.

Interesting, because when I discussed this with the A's representatives during their recent public Open House, they were not clear, at all, how this would be accommodated.

Avatar

Who's gonna clean up after them? It's a neighborhood and I'm sure the locals will not like the mess that will be left behind. That's unless you also build a dedicated expansive parking lot for that tailgating to occur.

Avatar

They keep saying there will be tailgating, but I haven't seen how this will happen. I have a sinking feeling a lot of people will be unhappy with the tailgating experience at this new park. They need to stop trying to be the mini Giants and be the Athletics..

I'm a Chicago White Sox fan from birth, however, during the early 70's the A's became a team I enjoyed watching, with all it's all stars: Joe Rudy, Vida Blue, Catfish and Reggie. Now I would like to thank the Oakland faithful for giving my fellow Chicago Bears fans Khalil Mack.

A's Week of Giving
Last week, the A's helped to spread holiday cheer throughout the community during our Week of Giving. From sorting donated gifts to packing food for families in need, players and volunteers spent time helping out the town and community that we love and are proud to be a part of.

With all the crime and homelessness in the city the last thing Oakland needs is a new ballpark. The owners have to know that the city will screw them in the long run with taxes that’s how liberals run things tax the so called “rich”. I will be surprised if it does go through.

Piscotty Awarded 2018 Tony Conigliaro Award
We are humbled to share that Stephen Piscotty is the recipient of the 2018 Tony Conigliaro Award, which honors a “Major Leaguer who has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination, and courage that were trademarks of Tony C.” Stephen joined his hometown A’s last offseason, allowing him to be closer to his mother, Gretchen, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2017. She passed this May, surrounded by Stephen and the Piscotty family. Upon his return to the team, Stephen hit a home run in his first at-bat, sparking a four-plus-month run that culminated in the best season of his career.

The St Louis Cardinals deserve some credit in all of this for trading Piscotty to the A's for very little so that he could be near his mother. Kudos all around; a great story.

Piscotty is a class act. And the A’s organization should get credit for signing him as well. The A’s not only signed a top notch ball player, but they made it possible for him to be close to home and be with his ailing mother. All good things! Congrats to Stephen and to the A’s!!

Nice! I'm glad for Stephen. He set a good example last year. The A's should be glad for him, too. Maybe they could use a better writer? No one is actually "humbled" by this news. While a common mistake, it's the wrong usage and the wrong word. In fact, you are proud of Piscotty and proud that he "overcame adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage."

This is one amazing man and ball player. I got kinda choked up learning about him and why he wanted traded to my beloved Oakland A's. I lost my father to ALS myself so it definitely hit close to home. I think I need to buy his jersey now.
